Green Pool Clean-up
From swamp to swimmable
A green pool is an algae bloom, usually after chlorine ran low in the heat, heavy rain diluted the chemicals, or the pump stopped. Bringing it back means killing the algae, brushing it off the surfaces, filtering and vacuuming it out, then rebalancing the water.
It can take several days of filtering and repeat treatment, depending on how green the pool is. Very neglected pools may need partial draining.

Trinidad conditions
Why pools go green here
Heat, sun and rain all work against chlorine. A few days without enough chlorine, or a pump that stopped during a power cut, can be enough for algae to take over. Mosquitoes breed in neglected pools too, so it's worth sorting quickly.

Pricing
What affects the price of pool service in Trinidad
Every pool is different. These are the things a technician looks at when pricing your job.
| What affects the price | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Pool size Main factor | Bigger pools need more chemicals, more time and longer filtering. |
| Condition Time | A clear pool on a regular service is quick. A green or neglected pool needs several visits. |
| Chemicals Materials | Some prices include chemicals, others charge them separately. Ask which. |
| Trees and debris Time | Pools under trees need more skimming and more frequent visits. |
| Equipment Parts | Pumps, motors and filters vary in cost. Repair or replace prices differ. |
| Visit frequency Schedule | Weekly service is priced differently to a one-off clean-up. |
Every job is priced by the pool technician after seeing it, in person or by photo. Ask for the price in writing before work starts.

Green Pool Clean-up: common questions
How long does it take to clear a green pool?
Often a few days, depending on how bad it is, the filter and the pool size. Very green pools take longer.
Do I need to drain my green pool?
Usually not. Most green pools can be cleared with treatment and filtering. Very neglected pools may need partial draining.
Why did my pool go green after the rain?
Heavy rain dilutes chlorine and changes the water balance, and washes in dirt. Topping up chlorine after big storms helps.
